News

This page on the site is designed to let you know what is going on with the Foundation! We will aim to update this regularly with latest news as it happens!

The Emily Jordan Foundation starts up in the new unit!  We are very pleased to announce that after the purchase of the new unit for the Foundation in April, this is now occupied and is starting to change the lives of the group of people for which it is intended.

On 28th June, Spokes CIC,  a Community Interest Company, moved into Unit 9 and is now fully operational.  The new unit needed some vital work doing to it before the move - lights and electricity in the work place, the building of a canteen, rest room and office area, and the installation of heating for the winter.  The final items (the gas meter and telephone lines!) are now being installed!

As you will see from the pictures, the unit is now very busy, with plans being put in place to substantially expand the number of individuals who can come to the operation this Autumn.  New projects include the setting up of a specific course with the Kidderminster College - The 'Route to Work' Diploma, for young people with learning difficulties.  This will start in September at the unit.

The Foundation computer training area is being developed, with the aim for this to be fully operational before the end of August.  The woodworking project will start early 2011, once the current project is fully underway.

Open days are to be held with local employers in the coming months to show them what we are doing and to enable them to understand the benefit of these individuals to their organisation.  This will be a joint project between the Foundation and the Job Centre.

I cannot stress enough how beneficial this move will be to our young people.  They will now be able to train in a warm, clean, safe environment, having the benefits that many others take for granted.  Now is the real start for us to show the difference that this will make.

Finally, a big, big thank you to all that have been involved in the Foundation to date.  We have achieved our first big goal, within two years!

So many people have contributed in so many different ways to this very worthwhile charity - it is impossible to put individual names down.  However a board is being put together where everyone who has helped will be mentioned and this will be displayed in the Unit.

Also I would like to assure everyone that, to date, not one penny of Foundation money has been used for salary or 'administration'.  Everything raised has been spent on creating the site and moving the aims of the Foundation forward, unlike so many other organisations.  This will continue to be the case for as long as is possible, but will always be kept to an absolute minimum.

Thank you,

Chris Jordan
